WorldFood Istanbul 2017: 5 grocery exhibitors to visit
Published on 15/08/2017
Food and groceries covers 62% of total Turkish retail sales – making the sector worth a colossal $140 billion a year. Moreover, it’s growing 8% year-on-year. Exciting time for Turkey’s supermarket and food retail chains – but also for their suppliers.
WorldFood Istanbul is a natural meeting point between Turkish food and drink buyers and domestic and international suppliers. The grocery and oils sector is amongst the largest product categories at the show – one that covers a wide variety of foodstuffs from producers around the world.
2017’s show takes place between 7-10 September at the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Centre in the heart of Istanbul. If you’re making the journey this year, make sure you give these five grocery companies a visit.
5 of WorldFood Istanbul’s top grocery exhibitors
Başhan – Hall 2 – Stand C212
Başhan is one of Turkey’s top 500 industrial companies, according to watchdogs ISO 500. If that’s not enough to attract you to their stand in Hall 2 at WorldFood Istanbul 2017. The company is one of Turkey’s largest suppliers of grains, legumes, pulses, and rice across the country.
The group’s product portfolio is huge, holding seven rice varieties, eight different types of bulgur wheat, and eleven separate beans. It pumps out produce from two factories, with a combined daily output of over 1,000 tons a day.
But even if Başhan is a huge corporation with an extensive presence throughout Turkey and the Middle East, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a heart. Part of its service is a complete range of rations, food parcels, and non-food parcels for international aid organisations. Engage with this socially-conscious brand in Istanbul this year.
Aroma Agrotech – Hall 2 – Stand E263
Rice is India’s Aroma Agrotech’s business through and through. It simply specialises in production of long grain and basmati varieties, offering exceptional quality. The brand offers numerous bulk bags, ranging from a 1kg upwards, presenting buyers with plenty of options to suit their demands.
Aroma Agrotech boasts a modern production plant located in one of India’s biggest basmati producing regions. According to the brand’s website, it’s production facilities have been outfitted with cutting-edge technology from leading manufacturers. The net result of this investment is a high quality of rice.
Since forming eight years ago, Aroma has established a strong international export network – particularly in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait are some of the countries familiar with Aroma Agrotech rice, as well as Serbia, Canada, and South American states.
Orkide – Hall 2 – Stand C220
For liquid oils, olive oils, and margarine, Orkide is your first port of call at WorldFood Istanbul this year. With turnover in excess of TL 1 billion a year, Orkide is a big player – and one with major expansion plans on its mind.
Orkide currently covers 20% of Turkey’s domestic oil demand in both consumer and professional spheres. As well as supplying Turkey, Orkide has expanded its international presence. It currently exports goods to over 100 countries, including those in the Far East, Africa, and Australasia.
Even so, exporting is not enough for Orkide, which is keen to continue growing to become a major worldwide producer of cooking oils. Of course, only top quality products can make this happen. Try Orkide’s for yourself at Stand C220 in Hall 2.
Delice Global – Hall 2 – Stand B206
Korea’s Delice Global will be bringing a huge range of products to WorldFood Istanbul this year, with everything from rice-based snacks, ice creams, and sweet cakes. And, being a Korean brand, it has a state-of-the-art production centre able to produce its extensive product range to an exceptional standard.
The brand’s Magic Pop range of snacks is a big favourite in both Delice Global’s domestic markets and overseas territories. This all natural, vegan friendly selection of popped cereal treats promises a healthier alternative to saltier options.
Delice Global has established itself in over 70 countries worldwide. Not just in food, but in production and packaging machinery too. The Korean company is worth your time if you’re at WorldFood Istanbul this year.
Unifo – Hall 2 – Stand E220
Unifo seems like something of a renaissance brand when it comes to read-to-eat cuisine. It seems like it does it all. From ready meals to canned goods, sauces, powered foods, and beyond, Unifo is a Turkish leader in processed food.
Research and development is an important developmental process for food manufacturers and for Unifo, it’s integral to the company’s ongoing business practices. Some several labs, Unifo invests heavily in experimenting with new recipe combinations.
While the Turkish market remains Unifo’s chief focus, it does have an international presence. Russia was a key market for the brand, although the well-publicized political tussles between Turkey and its northern trading partner might have lessened Unifo’s Russian activities. Now, other markets are its target, so visit them at WorldFood Istanbul to find out more.
